What does a blog bring to society?

In most of our everyday lives we use blogs, but what is it doing to our society?
Some use it as a network program and use it to make interesting conversation with people all over the world about topics that may interest them. This usually gives people more perspective on the chosen topic and potentially could change the users opinion. News reports can be easily updated onto topical blogs such as BBC blog network, this provides fast news wherever you are. As well as conversational aspects people like to be aesthetically attracted to any web page, so fonts, colors, images and videos may be added to enhance the appeal of the blog. As much as blog can be fun, it can become to much of a frequent hobby. People may practically give up their lives in order to constantly be up to date with new stories and posts. I made the point of people using blogs as a network program, this could potentially be dangerous due to the risk of peadophiles and abusive comments. The fact that a blog is usually open access means that people any one can post incorrect information and present them as facts. Lastly the lack of filters can cause people to post unsuitable pictures.
